JANUARY 2008

•  January 2008 - Paint the Chair Art Project, Wadesboro, NC.  

Local artists and crafters will be painting chairs, stools, benches and rockers for auction to raise funds benefiting a project to enhance Uptown Wadesboro.  The auction will be held on the Square at a date to be announced.  Sponsored by the Anson County Arts Council.  Contact the Anson County Arts Council at 704-694-4950 for further information.

FEBRUARY 2008

• Thurs. Feb. 28, 2008, 7:00 pm - Everest, Not Everest - An Educational and Photographic Lecture & Show by Jeff Botz, Photographer, on Mt. Everest, at the Olde Mill Gallery, Lockhart Taylor Center at South Piedmont Community College, 514 N. Washington Street, Wadesboro, NC. Jeff Botz, whose photographs are in the style of Ansel Adams, is the first to develop a photographic survey of the world’s tallest mountain and its surrounding region. Come and experience a retrospective of his art depicting the tallest peak on earth and his adventures in the region. Free admission and parking. Light refreshments.

MARCH 2008

• Tues. March 1, 2008, 7:00 pm - Motown and More - Presentation by Curtis McNair, Artist and Graphic Designer, at the Olde Mill Gallery, Lockhart Taylor Center at South Piedmont Community College, 514 N. Washington Street, Wadesboro, NC.  Mr. McNair, who designed more than 80 album covers for famed Motown Records, will be reflecting on Motown and More.  He has applied his creative skills in many capacities in the arts including:  graphic illustrator for Chrysler Corporation; art director and design artist for Motown Recording Corporation; owner of a successful printing business; graphic artist for the City of Detroit, and, most recently, art teacher in the Richmond County School system. Free admission and parking. Light refreshments.   

• Sat. March 22, 2008, 6:30 - 10:00 pm - Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre ("Country Fried Caper") at Dennis Vineyards in Albemarble, NC.  Advance tickets only. $40/person includes dinner and show. APRIL 2008

• Thurs. April 10, 2008 - The Anson County Arts Council's Fourth Annual Gala and Silent Auction to Benefit the Ansonia Theatre Renovation, Twin Valley Country Club, Country Club Road, Wadesboro, NC.  Art from local artists will be presented for a silent auction.  Wine, hors d'oeuvres and live music.  Tickets available from the Arts Council - 704-694-4950.  Free parking.  For more information and details on the Ansonia Theatre project renovation, please visit the Anson County Arts Council website.

MAY 2008

• Thurs. May 1, 2008, 7:00 pm - Colonial Background in Voice and Painting - Presentation by Barbara Funderburk, Artist and Author, at the Olde Mill Gallery, Lockhart Taylor Center at South Piedmont Community College, 514 N. Washington Street, Wadesboro, NC.  Ms. Funderburk, dressed in authentic colonial dress of the ordinary woman, will use her oil paintings to tell wonderful stories that will bring to life this region’s cultural history. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries and art shows and are included in several private and corporate collections.  Free admission and parking. Light refreshments.
